What I am Thankful for…
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope this post finds you happy and healthy, spending time with the ones you love. I wanted to take a minute today to share with you what the holiday means to me. My posts usually contain some sort of lifestyle lesson and today I just want to share with you.
First and foremost, I am thankful for all of my family, friends, clients and colleagues (of whom I consider friends and family). I am so thankful I have the opportunity to do what I do. It has lead me to many of the incredible people in my life. And without the great people I have around me, I couldn’t do what I do. My husband, family and friends who support all of my ideas, even when they think I may have finally lost it.
I am thankful for my babies that make me smile every day. Hank, Jackson, Al and Jazz.
I am thankful for my health and my body’s incredible abilities to exercise the way that I do and my abilities to help other’s find that in themselves. This year, I am thankful for my Fall into Fitness program and the women in it. It has brought me an incredible amount of joy.
Finally, but not the last of what I am thankful for is patience. My family’s patience with me when I say I will see them at 2 and it is 1:20, I still have to get dressed, make an appetizer and I am writing a blog.
Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone and thank you for being a part of my life.
Fall into Fitness – Week 5
The Fall into Fitness participants are into their fifth week of the program already. As you have seen in past posts, they have had some incredible results thus far.
This is right about the time where people tend to start struggling. The majority of people do not make it past this point and gain the weight back plus a few pounds. With that in mind, I planned a “fun” Sunday of fitness and strategizing for upcoming struggles.
We started out our morning bright and early with a workout to get our muscles firing, we had a meeting to strategize the weeks ahead and then we headed out to Bald Mountain State Recreation area for some hiking/running on the trails. It was such a gorgeous day and great day for taking in some nature while breaking a sweat.
In my experience, I have found that people tend to begin to sabotage themselves right around the fourth week of a program. People often ask me why that would happen when someone is doing so well. We all have thoughts that go through our head every time we make a decision to stick to our plan and eat well or give in to temptation and eat something not in our plan. The two biggest issues I see come up is #1. The client has seen unusually great results at first and they have slowed down a bit. Often times this gets frustrating and we have thoughts that go through our head that tell pull us off track. Then once we slip up a little bit, we tell ourselves we have failed and then slip some more. It becomes a snowball effect. #2 The client has been seeing such great results, they begin to reward themselves with food or tell themselves “This is okay because…”.
We talked about some of the thoughts running through their heads at this point and ….sure enough, they are right on target. We talked about strategies to beat those thoughts and will be working diligently to instill new thought processes. This week we are filling out our daily plans each night, preparing food beforehand and logging everything that we actually ate. This time in the program is critical. All of the tools I have given them thus far will need to be used. Not only do people have thoughts that derail themselves, we have loved ones around us that subconsciously sabotage us as well. We are talking lots about how to avoid those situations as well and how to handle them when they come up.
Things are definately getting tougher. These ladies are strong and are toughing it out. Let them know what you think about how they are doing. They could use your supportive words. Leave your comments here.
